Is teeth whitening safe?

Yes. A great deal of research and many clinical studies have indicated this procedure is safe. It’s important to keep the gel and light away from soft tissue, so you’ll be wearing goggles to protect your eyes from the light and your gums and lips will be securely covered. Before having the procedure, you’ll be given a complete examination so that you’ll have no cavities, and any fillings and crowns you have will be tightly sealed.

Does teeth whitening hurt?

No. Neither professional nor at-home tooth whitening should hurt. If you have unusually sensitive teeth, we can use a lower strength whitening gel, to avoid making your teeth even more sensitive. In all cases, after the in-office procedure a gel is applied which reduces sensitivity. If you’re using an at-home kit, a tube of this desensitizing gel comes with it. With the new, patented bleach used by Zoom!, your teeth are mineralized at the same time and this virtually eliminates any sensitivity that might have been felt for a day or two previously.

What are my options for teeth whitening?

We offer a range of tooth whitening choices, including at-home tooth bleaching kits, in-office Zoom! whitening procedures, and, if the discoloration of your teeth is not removable by tooth-whitening, we offer the best quality porcelain veneers.

How do I know which option is right for me?

The teeth whitening solution that’s right for you will depend on the cause and extent of the staining, and your personal preferences. The best way to determine which procedure is right for you is to discuss it with one of our dentists.

How can I prolong the whitening effect of my procedure?

After bleaching procedures, your teeth may become re-stained as time progresses. To prolong the whitening effects of your procedure, avoid smoking, and limit your consumption of coffee, tea, red wine and other substances that might cause staining.
